Napmátka means 'bride of the Sun' and it also resembles "a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars." (Book of Revelation 12:1)
The woman, dressed in the sun, appears in our folklore as a picture of the Virgin Mary whose name here is Patrona Hungariae, the queen of our nation. It was St. Stephen, the first king of Hungary who offered the country to her and since then we have been her people.
I have chosen her to protect my intentions and deeds as well as my activity as an artist.
HERITAGE. BALANCE. CRAFTSMANSHIP. These are the brand values I personally believe in and wish to emphasize and interpret through each and every collar and scarf I make. I like to call my store 'the collar shop', because I love this piece of clothing so much and my creations are a bit on the rigid side, I mean they have their own shape with low drape and less fluidity. However I use the finest merino wool yarns for my works and therefore the soft and pleasant touch is also an important feature in the designing process.
I started knitting in my early childhood, more than thirty-five years ago. My first tutors were my grandma and my mum. Napmátka workshop was launched as a family initiative in 2007 with a purpose to save traditions and turn it into modern appearance.
Each of my handcrafted products is my own design and one-of-a-kind. Crochet came into my life later, but equally enjoyably. My deep love for floral motifs has strengthened during the years. Some items are certified as 'Work of Applied Art' by the Hungarian Institute for Culture and Art.
Thank you for your time and kind attention,
